Committees are the working structure of a SEPTA; they plan and promote the activities of the local SEPTA. They are the primary tool by which members become involved.
SEPTA encourages parents to become members of their child's school in order to help maintain the child's social and emotional involvement with their school - School Spirit! Also, we would like to have a parent in each building who attends the building PTA meetings monthly as a SEPTA Member Representative and be a Liaison between the two PTAs.
There are two types of committees: Standing and Special. Our Bylaws indicate SEPTA will have the following committees: Bylaws; Membership; Health and Safety; Publicity; Teacher Appreciation; Fundraising; and Volunteers.
If you have been in a PTA before, you know members are always being asked to volunteer. We know there is limited time, especially as a parent of a child who has special needs. We get it. We also get that the benefits of parental involvement includes: Increased achievemwent; Increased positive behavior; Social and emotional issues are better handled by the children and parents; Parents are more aware of the causes of their child's distress and can address them more effectively; and Parents feel more confident.
Help your child succeed by volunteering through SEPTA.
